Of his first published book, Michael says, "Chisel A Grey Stone was inspired by my own experiences as a young artist.  From the time I was a small child, like Chisella, I was always creating imaginary worlds in my mind and in my sketchbook. This book is about one of those worlds."

In the story, Chisella, a young artist, yearns for a more exciting existence beyond her tiny village. Using the power of her imagination and her artistic gifts, she takes the reader on an exciting adventure where she creates, then brings to life her gargoyle friends. Read a review of the book here

Michael began drawing and painting at a young age. He earned his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Chisel A Grey Stone is Michael's first published book. He is currently working on his second book featuring his family’s beloved and comical hounds, Jakey and Bernie.  He is a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Michael lives in Urbana, Illinois with his family.
